Institute presentation

Landspitali – National University Hospital provides secondary and tertiary services for the whole of Iceland in all domains of psychiatry as well as outreach in the form of group CBT in primary care. The service consists of emergency room services in two hospitals, outpatient services, community care, forensic services, day patient facilities, 4 acute wards (three for general adult psychiatry, one for addictions with comorbid psychiatric diagnoses) and rehabilitation services in several locations. There are around 40–45,000 outpatients who receive treatment each year through the service, around 2,000 acute admissions to the inpatient units and two psychiatrists provide on call service as well as two trainees at any given point in time.
